Kjus: Style for Miles.

Many of you know that Kjus ski wear has been a long time and loyal supporter of AspenSpin.  The people at Kjus make sure that A. Party is  always decked out in the finest ski wear known to man.   Kjus started with an idea from Lasse Kjus the Norwegian Olympic skier and Swiss entrepreneur Didi Serena.

The company has evolved into a premier provider of Ski, Golf and Active clothing internationally.  The first Kjus ski collection was produced in 20O1 and initially hit the U.S. in 2002.  Since then the distinctive Kjus logo has become well known in the active fashion world.  Kjus ski wear is known for its technical fabrics and stylish designs.  It's functionable and fashionable.  It's the best ski wear I've ever worn and it always provides style for miles.

Last January, Brooke Mackenzie of Kjus USA and I had a brief huddle at SIA.  She was running from one meeting to another at The Snow Show, but she still took the time to ask what color I was thinking for 2015/16.

There was a giant sized poster of Lasse Kjus in the FRX Pro Jacket in maroon and blue and matching pants. That one looks pretty cool I pointed at the 20 foot display.  Brooke just smiled and agreed..."that one does look pretty cool"

A. Party chillaxing in the FRX Pro.So thats what i'm wearing this year...and it's working. The Kjus web site describes the FRX Pro as follows; "the White Dragon stretch fabric sets new standards in comfort for backcountry skiing". Suffice to say its a technical piece of gear.  It's waterproof, windproof, lightweight and breathable...and the ladies seem to really like it.   Its got that shred ready/ ready for anything / free rider look and the colors apparently suit me.

Older and younger women alike seem to be drawn to me like a magnet when i'm wearing my new Kjus kit.  It's truly unbelievable. I've skied about 1200 days in Aspen and I've never before gotten so much chit chat on the gondy from the ladies.  Young ones and old ones, rich ones and poor ones, thin ones and thinner ones. They all seem to love the way I look in the KJUS Frx Pro.  "It's sexy" one very well heeled MILF whispered in my ear as we approached the top of the mountain.FRX Pro Jacket

If I wasn't authentic, I'd be nothing.  So here it is, from the heart.

Thank you Kjus. Thank you Brooke and Chris.  Thank you Didi and Nico and Timo. You guys have always suited me up in the best ski wear...but this season seems extra special. This year...if I play my cards right...in maroon and blue...and if I shave a little more often...then maybe, just maybe I'll finally meet a girl.   I'll owe it all to Kjus.

Huge thanks to Kjus for always making me look good.

In Aspen you can get Kjus at Hamilton Sports, Gorsuch and Aspen Sports.  Kjus is carried by the finest retailers Internationally

Sneak Peek: Early Shredding in Aspen.

A. Party is back in Aspen for his 13th season as a ski bum and the 10th season of AspenSpin. Party is sporting a sick new kit. The FRX Pro from KJUS. "That color works for you" Per a random MILF on Opening Day.Hellz yeah!!!  It's good to be back in Aspen.   We are so fired up for our 13th ski season in Fat City and the 10th SEASON for ASPENSPIN.   It's been a wild ride...from a virtual unknown to the #1 Winter Sports Blog in the World (according to Cision P.R.) and back down again on the slippery slope of the interwebs.  It's been fun, entertaining and exciting.

After 1150 ski days, and over 3 million unique visits AspenSpin is still at it. We are back documenting the over-the-top ski and party lifestyle in Aspen, Colorado. As usual...A. Party is prepared to crush it.

Even a jaded local like me loves a groovy and unexpected surprise from the Aspen Ski Company (ASC). Aspen has been getting dumped on (with snow) lately.  ASC  wisely decided a little sneak peek was in order. The lifts started spinning early (Nov 14 and 15) for a fabulous early season bonus weekend of skiing and riding on Aspen Mountain.  Basically...it was locals only. We schralped 125 acres of open and ski-able terrain.  The top of the mountain was groomed to perfection and two gorgeous and warm Colorado bluebird days were there for the taking.  We grabbed 'em.

Now it's dumping again.   So fire up the brand new G-650  (check that, the wingspan is too wide for ASE), fire up the old-school G-5 and get here now.  If you are one of the unlucky one's who doesn't have a 10,000 sq ft second or third abode, a siiiiiiiick timeshare...or a $25 million penthouse...and you need affordable lodging...I'm told there are several affordable lodging options with plenty of early season vacancies.  I might even be able to get a you a deal on lift tix.

Book early and often. Trust me...I'm a ski bum...I know what I'm talking about.

SIA 2015; The Snow Show is The Bro Show

Every year, during the last weekend in January, the entire ski and snowboard industry shows up in Denver for the SIA SNOW SHOW.   SIA...the Snowsports Industries of America, hosts the biggest and rowdiest trade show in the U.S. snowsports industry.  It's the one place where all the bro's get together to make deals, reunite and party their a$$es off.

It's more than just a convention...it's a life-style.   And it's BIG fun.

All the best and newest ski and snowboard brands show off next years goods. The retailers see it, feel it and order it up to solidify their line-ups for the 2015-16 ski season.

A few observations from the show:

1) Business is good.   The economy is back and retailers are planning as such.  Order flow appears to be very strong for 2015-16.

2) Not much has changed.   Sure the colors are different and there are always some new design elements with the hard goods, but the ski and snowboard industry seems a little stagnant.  But this is old news.

3) Bro's like to party.   The party scene at SIA 2015 was as strong as ever.  Maybe stronger.

4) Musical chairs continue.   It's the same people doing the same things... they are just doing it with a different brands this year.  Once you are established in the ski industry it tough to get out.  It's the Hotel California of career paths.

5) Climate Change is on everyone's mind.  The ski industry is finally coming around to the fact that climate change may have an irreparable impact on future business. Non-profits such as Protect Our Winters (POW) and Save Our Snow (SOS) were prominent with their outreach efforts throughout the convention.

6) The baby boomers are aging out and the millenials seem to be more interested in video gaming and social media than skiing and snowboarding.  This does not bode well for future growth.   Resorts and brands are begining to plan accordingly.

7) Denver has soooooo many recreational cannabis shops...it's unbelievable.

KJUS: Style and Performance

What do Andy Party and Bode Miller have in common?  If you've read AspenSpin over the years the answer should be easy.  Both men ski almost every day,  both men are concerned with style and performance and both men exclusively sport premium ski clothing from KJUS.

I don't know? What are you wearing?Kjus, a Swiss company is named after Olympic Gold medal winner and World Champion skier Lasse Kjus. It can be found in the finest shops in Aspen and around the World.   Every piece is meticulously designed and extensively tested before it hits the stores.   Known for their clean, crisp, innovative designs and uncompromising vision Kjus has become the gold standard for premium ski wear all over the world. In fact according to an industry insider Kjus has helped shape the future of sportswear.  Their ground breaking  high-tech stretch fabrics allow full freedom of movement on the slopes but also are the most fashionable.  Every stitch, every seam, every design and every garment is flawlessly produced.  Kjus is worn on mountain by champions like Lasse Kjus, Bode Miller, Didier Cuche and Lara Gut. Kjus gear even makes a ski bum like A. Party look fabulous on the snow.

Kjus is not just clothing for skiing.  In recent years Kjus has expanded their horizons to produce a full line of active wear and golf clothing with the same tradition of excellence.  Click KJUS to learn more about the company, their history, the future and to find dealers all over the world.

Last week AspenSpin was lucky enough to attend the grand opening of the very first Kjus boutique in North America at Beaver Creek, Colorado.  Like Kjus clothing, the store has a clean classic design that exudes quality. The store design is beautiful, but it's the merchandise that stands out with distinction.  All the newest styles and colors for ski season 2014/15 are available.  It was a celebration of Kjus and it was a first class event.  VIP's from all over the world attended the opening and the merch was flying off the racks. Nico Serena, Director of Design and Creative and Timo Regier, Global Head of Sales flew in from Switzerland for the event.  I'm sure the soft Colorado POW POW was not a lure for those guys.  North American team leaders Brooke and Chris Mackenzie hosted the Grand Opening and their crew supervised every detail.  Bode Miller and his family were on hand to help celebrate the day.  It was a great party and hopefully the first of many Kjus boutiques in the U.S. and Canada.

If you've been diligently following AspenSpin...you've seen the pix and you know A. Party always looks sharp on the slopes.  As previously reported...we've logged over 1000 ski days in Kjus.  We don't just promote brands and products...we live 'em.  Take it from AspenSpin...Kjus is the World Champion of ski wear.

While in Beaver Creek AspenSpin also attended a fashion show produced by Snow Magazine and a Ted Ligety autograph signing.  Click 4 pix.
