Even if you're not an Olympian or a pro, maybe you're just a weekend warrior, either way the Aspen Triathalon is a great challenge. The event is sanctioned by the U.S. Triathlon Association so if you're a hard core competitor or just a "recreational" participant there is something for you. There are duathlon options too. The Aspen Triathlon is a couple months earlier this year (in the past its been in August) in order to coincide with Outside Mag's Outside in Aspen event also scheduled for this weekend.

The fun gets started this Saturday at the Aspen Recreation Center at 7am. An 800 yard swim in the pool, followed by a 17 mile bike ride up to the Maroon Bells (1500 foot rise) capped off by a 4 mile run through the beautiful Maroon Creek Valley. It should be a blast for everyone.
