In case you weren't paying attention, Aspen got hit with a HUGE early season storm. We received over two feet of fresh POWDER SNOW, perfect for skiing. Both Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk opened for their 50th seasons, but as always, the real action was at AJAX. The Dogs, a local ski gang announced tryouts and prospective members began lining up at the bucket at 6.30am after the 18" Saturday night special storm. Many of the pledges stayed up all night in order to be first in line. See Pix @ POW POW PARTY.
When the ropes started to drop on Ajax things got a little crazy. It was nipple deep on the Back of Bell and Face of Bell. The Glades and some of the Dumps got their first fat-boy traffic of the year. Sunday's conditions were awesome--the wider underfoot the better.
